Irukandji is a very special rounded/rectangular polyester string. It is soft and provides great snap-back and feel. It enhances spin potential due to its added elasticity. It was engineered to function as the ideal Cross string.

Its smooth surface allows the mains and crosses to slide on each other, minimizing notching and maximizing snap-back, which increases spin potential. With remarkable feel and comfort, it bridges the gap between co-poly and multi filament strings.

Performs well in full bed, but is highly recommended as a Cross-string with Multi or Natural Gut in the Mains.

Available in White, Blue and Grey colors.

Diameter: 0.90 x 1.45 mm

Recommended tension:

- Normal poly stringing tension when used as full bed or as a Cross in a hybrid.

Note: Given Irukandji's unique shape, it is officially rated at 0.90 x 1.45 mm in diameter, which is comparable to a 17g round string.

Full 200m Reel

Stringing Tips:

  • Irukandji will tend to lay against the gut or multi main on its larger surface area, flat side. Don't worry if this does not happen every time, and you see a turn or two throughout stringing. It will not be a problem.

I have been using Irukandji as my cross string in my hybrid with different multifiliments. It has really enhanced the spin potential of the multi and provides excellent snapback. In addition, the stringbed has excellent pocketing and feel that really takes my game up a notch. As a topspin player who cannot play with harsh polys due to elbow issues, it is wonderful to have my opponents tell me that my ball is coming in heavy and with extra spin now. On volleys, I get very good control and tremendous feel. I typically string mains at 48 lbs and Irukandji at 44 lbs in the crosses. This is my perfect combo! I am waiting for blue reels to come back. Highly recommend Irukandji for players with elbow/shoulder/arm issues but don't want to give up on using spin in their game.

I’ve been using the above primarily as my cross string with a multifilament main. The round and flat sides are very unique. There is a pretty good bite on the ball at contact. When stringing sometimes the flat side lays on the mains and other times the rounder side lays which may be the reason for more bite. Very interesting string so far as my cross in a hybrid setup!

Thank you so much, Tim!
